School Starts Monday!

Wow!  Summer just flew by, and now it's time for our newest students to arrive!  The children are excited, the teachers are ready, and the parents are feeling a little sad that this day has finally come.

If you were unable to make it to Kindergarten Orientation, please let us know and we can send home copies of the presentation and the "Parent Questionnaire."

Parents are welcome to escort their children to the classrooms on Monday.  For Mrs. Dillon's and Mr. LaPradd's classes, stop outside the room in the hall where we'll be putting back packs on hooks (look for your child's name), and lunches and snacks on the blue shelf.  Any supplies you bring should be put on/under/near the table to the left of the blue shelf.  Don't worry; there will be signs to direct you.

School starts at 8, tardy bell at 8:10, but we know the first week of school things will be hectic.  Don't worry; we will welcome your child when they arrive this week!

Kindergarten Orientation - August 2 at 5:45 p.m

Please attend this Orientation of what to expect in Kindergarten!  You will meet your child's teacher for a presentation and an opportunity to have your questions answered prior to school starting.
Please bring your child's supplies to the school on this evening if possible.  Students may accompany you, and we will arrange for staff supervision on the playground if the students get restless.
The presentation will last 1/2 hour to 45 minutes, then you are welcome to come see the classrooms!

School Uniform Sources

Below are a few options for purchasing school uniforms.  Please review the dress code at http://patrickhenrycharter.org/parents_dresscode.htm


Please read the entire code, but In a nutshell:

• Tops: white or navy blue, must have a collar, polo or woven, long or short sleeve, no logos or designs
• Bottoms:  navy blue or khaki twill/cotton (no denim) short pants, pants, skirts, skorts or jumpers
• Shoes: brown or black, closed-toe, rubber sole with backs, or white or black sneakers, preferably shoes your child can fasten on their own (sneakers must be worn on P.E. days)
• Socks/tights:  white, black or navy blue
• Sweater:  navy blue plain WITH NAME WRITTEN ON LABEL
• NO: hoodies, logos, jewelry (other than plain small stud style earrings), bracelets, sandals, distracting  hair designs (i.e. mohawk) or adornments, make up, nail polish, or dyed hair.

A few sets of uniform compliant clothing should be sufficient.  Remember you will also need a "spare" uniform to send to school for emergencies (this might be some older clothing that fits the guidelines rather than a new set of clothes.)

Soundabet Video

You'll be hearing your child sing the ABC song a little differently before long.   It's SOUNDABET!  Soundabet is a way to practice saying the SOUNDS letters make when we read.  Some letters might sound a little different than what you might have been used to (like w, y, qu), and Soundabet also includes some of the most common sounds for beginning readers that contain more than one letter ( like -er, -ay, sh.)
